A woman in her 90's was allowed to open and trade an options account without any question or supervision by the Compliance Registered Options Principal or the margin department of the firm. Specifically, there was no inquiry from TD Ameritrade's order, margin or compliance department to ascertain whether the claimant knew what she was doing, understood the risks of the investments or strategy that was being used. As fate would have it, within a relatively short period of time, the claimant lost substantially in excess of $1,000,000.
